Chebucto Community Net Board Meeting September 3, 1996 Present: David Trueman, Carol Compton-Smith, Rob Currie, Doug Rigby, Jan Fullerton, Ben Armstrong, Joan Brown Hicks The minutes of the Aug 27th meeting were approved. Financial Report: Carol gave an informal financial report indicating that revenue is on target. A full financial report will be available by October 1. Network negotiations: David is discussing an agreement with ISI-net. An informal agreement may be finalized this week to be ratified by the board once it is ready. CAP grants: The next deadline for applications is October 31st. It was agreed that we would like to work toward serving all the residents of the Halifax Regional Municipality. David moved and Doug seconded that Bernie Hart and David Murdock meet with Joan and other Halifax Regional Library representatives to discuss possible joint CAP initiatives. Membership Meeting: The planned September membership meeting will be postponed until October. Once the network agreement is finalized, we will know what form a commercial policy can take. The other issue for membership discussion is the Telecommunities Canada 97 conference. Joan will check available dates for a meeting at the Spring Garden Road Library and post these to the board. Strategic Planning: It was agreed that we need to start a process for strategic planning. An outside facilitator (Joan) , a list of issues (Jan), people to be involved (Ben) and possible times and locations (Doug) need to be arranged. Each person will report back by the next meeting. It was agreed that we would like to have a beginning session before the end of October. Word on the Street: It was moved by David and seconded by Carol that we approve up to $250 toward a tent. More money could be spent if some possibility of fundraising can be arranged. Motion carried. Joan will follow up with Joe.
