Chebucto Commumity Net Board Minutes April 8, 1998 Present: David Trueman, Doug Rigby, Bernie Hart, Charlie Macdonald, Blaine Murphy, David Murdoch, Michael Colborne, Joyline Makani, Sharon Parker, Peter Mortimer. 1. VolNet Bernie Hart and Peter Mortimer reported on the VolNet meetings held with Industry Canada earlier in the week. 2. New Position Sharon Parker distributed a draft contract and a hiring recommendation. Motion: That the CCN Board ratify the motion approved by the Executive Committee appointing Richard Rudnicki to the position of Coordinator, Fundraising and Development, effective April 9, 1998. Moved by Sharon Parker, seconded by Doug Rigby. Carried. 3. Health Canada David Murdoch reported on the Health Canada project. Most of the training has been completed. The project has met with very positive response and is within budget. $500 has been received by the New Brunswick division of the Victorian Order of Nurses for additional training. By the end of April the project will be completed. 4. Annual General Meeting Sharon Parker is coordinating the annual reports. The Halifax Regional Library will arrange refreshments. Michael Colborne will assist David Murdoch on the Nominations Committee. 5. Urban CAP Bernie Hart reported that Industry Canada is looking at possibly 50 sites in Halifax Regional Municipality and will contribute $50,000 per site. Discussion centred on what CCN's role should be, and how best to proceed. Bernie will pursue this with Jim Stanley, at the Technology and Science Secretariat. 6. Volunteer Committee Charlie Macdonald reported that a five person committee is in place. A database of potential volunteers is being developed. David Trueman suggested a party for volunteers and potential volunteers. Committee chairs could speak about volunteer opportunities. 7. Technical Committee David Trueman reported on the recent work of the committee. They are working on the PPP problem. The Board agreed to pay for refreshments for the committee.
