David, Joan M and Joan BH and Carol need to go to the Main Branch on George St. to sign forms. Our contact at the Bank is Michael Hatfield. Go party Joe has received a lot of support for donations, etc but is concerned about the ticket sales. Susan Newhook from CBC First Edition is covering Chebucto and will be covering the party but this pr will be on after the party. We had a modem donated for the winner of the most tickets sales. This could be used to raise money with tickets. Free tickets have been given to performers and sponsors. Outreach to other Community Nets: The New Glasgow Band that is coming is trying to set up a community net. Bernie and Joe and going to New Glasgow to meet with those interested. Windsor has had training session and Jan has been support to them. David did a demo in Truro and will be going to Yarmouth later in May. David Murdock has been helping with much of this outreach. Groups using Csuite have been asked to acknowledge Chebucto. Rob and Peter will work on a method for doing this. Policy Information Committee: Peter, Joan M and Hugh met to discuss some current issues. It was stressed that issues need to be dealt with quickly. The committee needs to develop policies and procedures to deal with situations. We have a present dilemma in that the new User Agreement is not on line yet and policy is being implemented according to the new user agreement. We also need to add information re banning mass postings to multiple newsgroups, commercial postings to non-commercial venues, and chain letters. Hugh is being asked to do this. Rob will also write a charter for ccn newsgroups. Commercial Policy The commercial policy that was discussed at a previous board meeting needs to be written up. ( on former "do to " list) We have had an offer to allow a commercial page link from CCN which would pay CCN per connection to the commercial site.It was agreed that we would allow this as a pilot for a limited time period. Joan will inform the company of our proposal. This could fit into a fundraising plan. PAT Committee: It was moved by Bernie Hart and seconded by Joe Baker that Doug Rigby be chair of the PAT Committee and be asked to join the board. Motion carried. PAT Outreach -David suggested that David Murdock pursue funding to set up PATs in the outlying areas in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Bernie will call a meeting of Doug, David Murdock, Joan BH (and maybe someone else from the Library) to look into this idea. Rob has suggested training sessions for Ips that will have more extensive skills than the first level training. This will also be an opportunity to raise some money but the purpose is to provide the training. He suggested two sessions simultaneously with 20-40 people. Jan and Bernie offered to help. IP Report: The IP Agreement is being re-written to stress partnership of the IP with CCN. David suggested that the IP agreement needs to be renewed annually. A letter could go out that gives examples of how some IPs support CCN. Hugh should look at this before it is finalized. Volunteer List: Sharon will be the moderator. Joe and Carol will be working on it as well. A "How -To" is going to be set up.The Technical Committee is looking after this. We need a policy on administration of mailing lists. This could include a charter .Joan will post some guidelines on line for discussion that will then go to the PIC committee. Next meeting: Tuesday 7pm , May 7th at the Alderney Gate Library.
